Short Biography

I am currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Agriculture. My academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Patuakhali Science and Technology University in 2008, followed by an M.Sc. in Genetics and Plant Breeding from Bangladesh Agricultural University in 2010. Higher studies took me to the Philippines, where I earned my Ph.D. in Plant Breeding and Plant Genetics from the University of the Philippines Los Baños in 2015 while conducting doctoral research at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI).
I started my professional research career as a Research Scholar and Technology Development Scientist, later serving as an Assistant Scientist (Post-Doctoral Fellow) at IRRI from 2016 to 2018. I joined GSTU as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agriculture in April 2018 and was subsequently promoted to Associate Professor in September 2023. In addition to my university teaching, I completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of Integrative Biological Sciences and Industry at Sejong University, South Korea, in 2022.
Throughout my administrative and leadership career at GSTU, I have held several key institutional roles, including Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture since September 2024, Head of the Department of Agriculture, and Head of the Department of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine since May 2025. I also serve as the Principal Scientist and Project Coordinator for multiple IRRI-collaborative alliances and university-funded research projects.
To date, I have authored 14 peer-reviewed research publications, a book, and a book chapter, earning the Certificate of Outstanding Paper Award in 2019 from The Crop Journal. My core research focus encompasses plant molecular breeding, genomic tools for abiotic and biotic stress resistance, quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping, nutrient use efficiency (NUE), and crop improvement.
